Sophrology

Sophrology

Sophrology is first a method of deep relaxation. Created by Professor Caycedo, it is very well-known in Spain, France, Switzerland... Starting to grow in the UK, it is a very helpful method to beat stress, anxiety and to bring harmony in your life.
But more than that, it is a powerful process that can help in different situations.

How does it work?

Through his/her voice and a particular way of talking, the sophrologist brings the patient to a very deep relaxation: the patient’s mind reaches a deep relaxation level called Alpha Level*

At this stage, the unconscious mind of the patient is very receptive, and the sophrologist can, always through his/her voice, guide the patient to treat himself/herself, or just simply to relax.

Sophrology is NOT hypnosis: the patient is always fully aware in the entire session and the consciousness becomes actually sharper through the time of the process.
The entire method is based on a deep relaxation guided by the voice of the sophrologist.

The full process lasts 20 to 30 minutes. The entire session can last 45 to 60 minutes, including the process and a discussion with the sophrologist.
The first session is sometimes entirely dedicated to a discussion to understand the problems or the goals of the patient and decide what is to be expected.
A typical treatment can last 2 months, usually with 1 to 2 sessions a week, and up to 4 months (up to 6 months in some cases). All this will be decided in the first sessions with the sophrologist.

It is very important to understand that the sophrologist is just a guide helping the patient to learn how to treat himself/herself. At the end of the process, the patient should be able to relax himself/herself and have a better control over whatever goals he/she wanted to achieve.

Some examples in which Sophrology can help:
 - To treat anxiety, stress, or to simply get more relaxed
 - To prepare for an exam, a competition, to prepare to give birth, to prepare for surgery
 - To help to stop smoking, to help to reduce weight
 - To help children with fears, with difficulties in learning, with shyness

Do not hesitate to bring any other problem to me and I’ll let you know what you could expect from Sophrology.

Important: Please note that Sophrology does not replace any medical treatment or medical advice.

*The Alpha Level is a level your mind reaches just between a fully awaken state and a sleeping state: in this level the patient becomes actually more conscious and his/her mind becomes more receptive.
